WHAT IS the Casey Cardinia Foundation?

The Casey Cardinia Foundation Ltd is a philanthropic Community Foundation, raising funds for local community groups throughout the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire, with funds dispersed through an annual grants program. Established in 2003, the Foundation expanded in 2013 to include both the communities of Cardinia Shire and the City of Casey. The Foundation aims to support the social, community and physical development of the community.

HELPING your Community

The Casey Cardinia Foundation’s main purpose is to assist with the social, community and general welfare of those living in the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire. The Casey Cardinia Foundation raises funds and encourages philanthropy within Casey Cardinia in order to provide independent grants that support the growing needs of its communities, now and into the future.

Our volunteer Board of Directors are community representatives who reflect a broad range of skills and local experience:

Director and Chairman ~ Paul Thomas

Paul is the current Chairman of the Foundation and has been a Director since 2009. Paul grew up in Pakenham and works across the region in a fourth generation local media business. Paul has seen first hand the growth of the Casey-Cardinia region and understands the many challenges confronted by local residents. The Foundation is one small way to be able to provide some positive impact to the community.

Director ~ Adam Sadiqzai

Adam is the current Deputy Chairman of Casey Cardinia foundation. Adam lives in the City of Casey and has had business interests in both the Casey and Cardinia region for the past 15 years

Over the years, Adam has prided himself on creating a business that he terms as being “a business with a purpose” and as such, has contributed heavily to numerous community organisations both in Casey and Cardinia.

I am extraordinary proud to be a part of an organisation that has given back to the community in such a positive way, it is particularly rewarding to be side by side with such a dedicated group of people that is committed to making a difference 

Adam also proudly sits on the board of Outlook, an organisation that provides opportunities for the disabled and disadvantage.


Director ~ Kate Lempriere

Kate is proud to be an inaugural member of the Casey Cardinia Foundation since it’s inception in 2003. Committed to making a difference, providing positive outcomes in personal and business philanthropy.

Kate has served Cardinia as Mayor [twice] and Councillor [3 Terms]. Former President of the Save the Children Charity and Lord Mayors Charitable Fund, Kate, is former Vice Chair and current Board Member, Duke of Edinburgh Award. Dame of the Order of St John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitallier, she is Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Kate has tertiary and post tertiary qualifications in Financial Services, Management and Governance. Kate is well known as a Rotarian in Pakenham and Casey and is a Paul Harris Fellow recipient.


Director ~ Garry McQuillan

Foundation_134152_11 (2)Garry McQuillan has been a Director since 2006. He has been with Cardinia Shire Council since 2002 and was appointed Chief Executive Officer in December 2006. With his time at the helm coinciding with a period of unprecedented growth and change for the municipality and the organisation Cardinia Shire is among Australia’s fastest developing areas with around four families moving into the municipality each day. Garry has tertiary and post-tertiary qualifications in business management and finance and is a member of Local Government Professionals. Garry has a long history in local government, including executive positions with the City of Boroondara and the City of Fairfield in NSW.


Director ~ Brett Owen

Brett has been a Foundation Director for 3 years and is a lifetime resident of Cardinia Shire. He is currently a Cardinia Shire councillor and also a serving Victoria Police Officer for 20 years, with a focus on proactive and community policing in the Casey/Cardinia area. A father of two young boys, Brett is passionate about supporting young people and the disadvantaged, he wants to contribute to building safe, strong, happy communities.

Director ~ Mike Tyler

Mike oversees the operations of the City of Casey. With a population of over 300,000,  which is projected to reach almost 500,000 by 2041, the City of Casey is Victoria’s most populous municipality and Australia’s 7th.  Mike is responsible for a budget of $417 million in 2016/17 and 1,400 staff.  Rapid urban development, the challenge of meeting competing demands for Council resources, as well as lobbying other levels of government to assist in the infrastructure effort, is a key role for Mike.

Mike is a town planner by background, and has worked for the City of Casey (and the former City of Berwick before it) for 35 years.


Director ~ Amanda Stapledon

Amanda Stapledon was elected as Mayfield Ward Councillor in 2008, 2012 & 2016. Amanda represents the suburbs of Cranbourne, Cranbourne West, Cranbourne East, Cranbourne North and Lyndhurst. In 2013 Amanda was elected as Mayor where she launched the Casey Cardinia Business Group, Casey Cardinia Business Attraction Alliance and the Casey Cardinia Foundation. Amanda also held a 2 Week Walk for Disability which covered the whole of the City of Casey which took the whole community with her on her walk, raising funds and awareness about Disability Issues.

Amanda is passionate about the community that she serves and her focus is ensuring that people are given every opportunity to live their best life in the Ward of Mayfield and in the City Casey of Casey.


Director ~ Kristine Ash

Kristine has worked in the not-for-profit sector for over 16 years and has experience in all fundraising streams. In her current role with everydayhero she works strategically with not-for-profit organisations to grow their fundraising income. Kris is keen to see the Foundation’s ability to support local community groups grow and contributing to fundraising initiatives.

Kris emigrated from the UK in 1997 and now lives in Upper Beaconsfield and believes strongly in building resilience in our local community.

Director ~ Norm Davidson

Foundation_154130_02 (2)Norm has recently joined the Board of Directors. He brings to the role a wealth of community experience and is a proud and active resident of Pakenham. Norm is the Branch Manager Bendigo Bank Pakenham, and is active in several philanthropic organisations that serve the local community.

“I am looking forward to working with the foundation. The areas of the foundation that are of particular interest to me include fund raising, grants and community awareness.”

Graduate diploma – RMIT University in Innovation and Service Management, 25 years in the finance industry.


Director ~ Simon Bryson

Simon Bryson is a highly committed and energetic professional, passionate about shaping the future of the Casey Cardinia Region Simon is known for building high performance teams and creating a culture that improves others that surround him.

Simon brings more than 15 years of Leisure Management experience to the foundation with a comprehensive understanding of Business Planning, Facility Establishment and Management, Budgeting and Reporting, Human Resources, OH&S and Risk Management, Sales and Marketing, Program Development and Customer Engagement.

Simon is proud to be Raising funds to support local not-for-profit groups to deliver projects which make a impact within Casey Cardinia.


Director ~ John Barbaressos

John brings with him a wealth of knowledge about the local community. he has resided in the City of Casey his entire life and worked across the City of Casey and Shire of Cardinia for the past 20 years.

John brings over 20 years experience in hospitality where he has worked with numerous non for profit organisations to raise funds and awareness.

His ability to raise funds in this sector makes him a valuable acquisition to the Casey Cardinia Foundation.
